Cleanliness of the environment
We are building a dedicated outdoor classroom on the grounds of a working flower farm. Your child's day will be woven into the real rhythms of the lan and this is not a traditional indoor camp setting. Because of that, it's important that your child is able to follow basic instructions and participate in a small group setting. An outdoor environment comes with its own unique challenges and we want to be fully transparent with our families about what this experience looks like. We believe it's one of the best things about it, but we also want every family to feel informed and prepared. The farms is neighbored by properties with horses, chicken, and sheep for a truly unique background while the children learn, play, and grow together.
We are an outdoor program and plan to be outside in all kinds of weather. In the case of light rain or drizzle, camp will continue as normal. We'll provide protective covering and may move into the greenhouse for portions of the day. If severe weather makes it unsafe to operate, camp will be canceled for the day and families will receive a full credit for that day's value to their account.
Drop-off retrievals will begin five minutes before camp starts at 8:55 AM. We will walk up to the long driveway and better explain the one way flow of traffic for drop off and pick ups as we near camp. Please plan to pick up your child promptly at 12:00 PM. We want to be respectful of everyone's time. Both our facilitators and the farm are on a schedule too, so timely pickup helps us keep everything running smoothly for all families.
Ideally, yes. We will be outdoors and take regular bathroom trips to a dedicated port-a-potty with the children. We will have a small step stool on site and seat covers provided to ensure the cleanest possible experience. If you haven't yet begun potty training, you still have time! It depends. While we can make some exceptions, please consider the following. If your child is just under 2 and has no prior drop-off experience, they may find it challenging to keep pace on our nature walks and to settle into a new outdoor environment without that foundation. If your child is 4 or older, they'll be part of a mixed-age group where we'll look to them for cooperation, leadership, and patience with our younger campers. If you're unsure whether camp is the right fit, reach out and we're happy to talk it through.
